Early Enya Screws
(Cross Flow Engines)
This list compiled by Pat King
Standard screws listed as M3 x 0.6 are JIS (Japanese Industrial
Standard) and are almost impossible to find while World standard (ISO)
is M3 x 0.5
Both World and JIS standard for M3.5 is 0.6mm so damaged/lost
M3 x 0.6 screws can be replaced with common M3.5 x 0.6 screws by drilling
out with a 2.9mm (#33) drill and retapping.

Special Note re. the 15 Diesel screws -
the Mk. 1 had all slotted, the Mk. 2 came with slotted or Phillips or a
mix of both ( the Mk. 2 15 Diesel being produced over a much longer period
of time ). Unlike all other Enya’s listed here, the 15 Diesel’s also needed
4 long head bolts to tie the separate cooling fins down, the one situated
in the exhaust stack being longer than the other three.
1. The early 19 3-Bolt 7 fin head engine had Fillister
head natural steel screws; the rest of the 19 3-Bolt engines had slotted
Nickel plated Pan Head screws.
2. The 60 Typhoon Marine engines have M3 slotted Nickel
plated head screws, and M3 Phillips Nickel plated front housing screws.
3. Japanese Industrial Standard screws are not readily
available outside of Japan.
4. The factory started changing from the nickel plated
slotted screws, to the nickel plated Phillips around 1957. As well, the
change to black Phillips screws started around 1964 / 65.
